As usual we will be inviting many people across companies and industries in the change, Training and learning arena who can share their experiences and listen to yours.

We are delighted that Laura Overton has agreed to come along and be our guest speaker for this event. There will be food and drinks provided and we have secured a private bar within the building complex for later informal conversation and drinks. sky

Thursday 19 May 2011 aboard the HMS President

I am delighted to report the ClubConnect event was a great success! It was almost exactly a year to the day that we last visited the HMS President. This is a fabulous venue which fitted our need perfectly, which is why we revisited this year. The weather was kind again and we had a lovely drinks reception on the aft deck.

Guest Speaker

I was delighted that Paul Siegenthaler agreed to be our guest speaker. I was lucky enough to work with Paul during my days with Diageo and have a great respect for him as a person and a professional. (Andy Campbell)

“So much of my experience has been about getting people to envisage changing in impossible ways, and  as I see it, the training that is an integral part of that change requires an effort from individuals. But why should they invest that effort ?
What is it that makes people want to make that effort, identify and embrace a company’s new vision, either as a result of crisis (strong trigger) or just because the company’s senior Exec decided that “we need to do things differently”.

Past ClubConnect Events

The most recent event was held at the Swan Inn at the Globe Theatre. The venue was fantastic and the staff that organised the event on the evening were outstanding. I would recommend them to anyone.

The food was brilliant and there was as always plenty to drink. Paul's 'State of the Industry' presentation was well received as usual. We asked Don Taylor, who is very well known in the IT Training and Education sphere to come and speak about the future of training. Don in his effortless style delivered an interesting and thought provoking talk and involved everyone in the topic. We could have gone on all night but I had to halt proceedings to make available a tour of the theatre. Once again the venue surpassed itself with a guided tour of the Old Globe, with interesting and witty tales delivered as appropriate in such a thespians environment. After reconvening in the Balcony Room there were a good few hours of chatting and refreshments to take care of. Comments on the night and received later indicated everyone enjoyed the evening as much as I did!
